Message from Glenn "Gearhead" Stephens:
I had a good Labor Day weekend at Road Atlanta. We had 3 Miatas
and 4
drivers running in the SAARC ITA, Pro-IT, and Spec Miata races.
My car ran great with my new improvements and I got better also,
setting
several of my best laps ever at Road Atlanta. I finished 11th on
Sunday and
8th on Monday. The only incident was a rock chip in my windshield
and a
little bit of "bump drafting" with a VW Sciracco that
messed up the PMC
stickers on my rear bumper.
In Sunday's ITA race, Stan Mitchem finished 4th. Rob Ebersol
finished 2nd in
the ITA race on Monday and Ben Foltz finished 6th.
It was really hot out there but it didn't bother me too much. We did
have to
change the differential, axles, battery, and alternator in Ben's ITA
car -
twice! His racecar had multiple failures on Saturday so we stole the
spare
parts from his street Miata for the races and then put them back
Monday
night so he could drive home. We were pretty proud that we did a
complete
alternator and rear end swap in 35 minutes.
Our next races are the Oct 4,5 SAARC Invitational Challenge at
Roebling Road
in Savannah and the huge Atlantic Road Racing Championship (ARRC)
race at
Road Atlanta on Nov. 6,7. Of course some of the racers will be
joining PMC
at Talladega on October 26th. Come out and see us sometime.
